Has this hype about Obama Care got y’all confused and dizzy?

And even the Insurance Pundits and Guru’s won’t help you understand it?

You gimme your next five minutes and I’ll explain to you what this new Health Care Reform is!

The Good it brings, The Bad and The Ugly of this new health care reform.

So to start off with, right now the average Family Health Insurance premium is almost $14,000/yr and is on a constant rise.

Premiums have doubled over the last few years which means its growing way faster than inflation.

The population is aging, meaning more people with more health problems.Health costs are a huge and growing part of the federal budget.

And what stresses us the most is The Health System is full of FLAWS!

For example (Like I need to tell you that!) 21% of people who by insurance on their own can be turned down by insurance companies.

Why?

Because of some serious health problem like Heart Disease, Cancer e.t.c.

And even more so if they are offered a plan it will either be Very Costly or they will not cover the expenses of preexisting health conditions.

Some people have lifelong limits to some health services. Small Businesses are charged lots of money if some of the workers have some serious health condition.

To put it simply, in the current Health Insurance system

The ones who need health insurance the most are the least likely to get it.

Ok, while we are at it, how about checking and comparing some health insurance plans for free?

Just enter your zip code below!

So what is this new Health Reform that has got everybody head over heels?

This law has two stages, the initial one is …

Phase 1 : Obama Care ( Now through 2014)

Yeah lets start with some of the good news it brings.

1. Some services will become free (Yaay! to that)

In all new private health policies , preventive care like screening and vaccination will be free of cost.

2. Benefits for people over 65

People on medicare, because they are over 65 or disabled will get more help with their drug cost.

3. People younger than 26

Young Americans can save money and stay insured by remaining on their parents policies up-till they are 26 years old.

4. Small Businesses

Tax breaks will be given to reward small businesses to help them pay for employee health insurance.

5. Companies cannot turn people down

With some exceptions health Insurance providers cannot turn people down on the basis of some preexisting condition.

Some adults who buy insurance on their own will still be getting rejected between now and 2014, but that’s part of the transition into the post 2014 phase of this reform.

Phase 2 : Obama Health Reform (2014-Onwards)

So lets suppose we survive the end-of-the world and hit 2014 safely. Following are some of the major changes that will kick in.

1. Expanded Medicaid

Medicaid will be expanded to cover all low-income individuals and families in every state. If you lose your job or employer does not provide you with health insurance you may get a health insurance tax credit. For example you could get a tax-credit (subsidy to buy health insurance) if you make less than $80,000/yr for a family of four.

2. Health Insurance Exchanges

Yes the buzz-word “Health Insurance Exchanges”, which can be simply put as a virtual mega mall built with-in your community, to buy health insurance services. The Exchange will make sure insurance companies compete on fair terms, and under strict rules. The idea is to have a controlled environment where people are provided withGood Information, Fair Playing Field and Access to lots of choices.
So competition among insurers will keep rates competitive.

3. No Turning Down (ever!)

In 2014 it will be ILLEGAL (Yes Illegal) for insurance companies to turn people down or charge them more if they are sick.

How cool is that! So all seems bright and clean up-til now Right?

The predictions are 32 million of us who don’t have health insurance will have it by 2019.

This will cost 938 billion dollars over the course of 10 years (big scary amount right?), but the comforting fact that it only accounts for 2% of the federal budget. You must be thinking – “Too good to be true”

Well yeah, let me tell you, you are Right!

Lets now check out some of The Bad’s of this new reform.

1. Taxes will go up

People will have higher Medicare expenses. There will be new taxes on Insurers and Businesses who offer high-end benefit plans and on companies that make medical devices and drugs.

2. Employers will be fined

Employers who do not insure their workers will have to pay an annual fine of $750 per full time worker.

3. You will not be able to choose your plan

The Government will provide people some “Qualified” plans to choose from hence less customization offers. These are the plans that are offered by health care “Exchanges”.

4. Can’t choose Doctors

After the health reform, your primary care doctor can only control your access to a specialist. You will need his/her approval to visit a specialist lets say a Cardiologist or a Medicine specialist.

Yeah a couple of stressing features of this Reform right there!

But the most awful effect of this law , as it seems, is that young people who are typically healthy and earn less than the elderly people(who are usually less-healthy) get fewer benefits.

Its like everyone is paying pretty much the same amount for health insurance premiums, and there is no reward or customizable option for those who retain a healthy life style. Also this law prevents Insurance Providers from charging different premiums based on health of their customers.

So

Is Obama Care any good?

Will it bring an overall good to the Health Insurance System?

Does it promise to correct the flaws of the Health Insurance Industry?

Well I’d say Yes, No or Maybe (How’z that for a politician answer?)

Only time will tell, and only trying this out can really show if it will work.

Choosing a Health Insurance plan takes a lot of stamina, but choosing an Individual Health Insurance Plan take a lot more. More than 80% of health insured people in the US are insured by the organization they work for. People seeking Individual health Insurance are either Self-employed or their organization doesn’t provide adequate health insurance.

Buying Individual Health Insurance Plan

It can be a challenge to buy health insurance plan as an individual. Specially if you are older than 50 years or have a serious health condition like heart disease, asthma or diabetes. You might have to undergo through various medical exams to prove you are healthy enough to qualify for a particular health plan. Also most of the Individual health insurance plans do not cover expenses of pre-existing serious health problems. Also overall you might get fewer benefit for the value of money as compared to group or business health insurance plans.

Things to consider when buying Individual Health Insurance

Following is a small check-list to help you compare Individual Health Insurance plans.

- How much premium you have to pay per month or per year.

- How much of the total health expense will be paid by the Individual Health insurance plan.

- Does the plan pay for preventive care, like ulra-sounds and routine checks.

- Check if there is a yearly or lifetime limit of how much your insurance will pay for your health expenses.

- Identify your “must-haves”, for example if you are starting a family maternity care is a must-have for you, and check if the individual plan offers covers that expense.

- Networks and physicians the plan caters. If you have certain preferences regarding that.

- Check if the plan offers health insurance for your dependents, like your children. Specially if they have a pre-existing health condition, because some health insurance providers refuse to provide health insurance services to dependents if they have some serious pre-existing condition.

Businesshealthinsurance.com is here to help you with the comparison process.

Types of Medicare Plans

There are four major divisions in the Medicare program, each handling a different aspect of senior healthcare. These different types of Medicare can be a complementary package to each other. Often one may replace one or more of the others. Qualified applicants should consider all the different types of Medicare and come up with a solution to provide the best Medicare coverage they can afford.

Types of Medicare Coverage

Medicare Part A

Medicare Part B

Medicare Part C

Medicare Part D

Medigap

Medicare is a national health insurance program for people who are 65 or older, certain people under 65 with disabilities, and people with end-stage renal disease (permanent kidney failure). Medicare is basic protection, and does not cover all medical expenses or most long-term care. Medicare includes Part A Hospital Insurance, Part B Medical Insurance, Part C Medicare Advantage plans, and Part D Prescription Drug coverage.

Am I eligible?

Most people age 65 or older are eligible for Medicare. You may also be eligible if you or your spouse worked in Medicare-covered employment and you are under 65 and disabled, or you have end-stage renal disease (permanent kidney failure). Your income and assets do not affect your eligibility. For more information, call Medicare at 1-800-MEDICARE (TTY: 1-877-486-2048).

What benefits will I get?

Medicare is a basic health insurance program that pays only a portion of your health care costs. Part A Hospital Insurance includes inpatient hospital care, skilled nursing care, and home health care. Part B Medical Insurance includes doctors’ fees, medical tests, and outpatient care. Most people who are eligible for Medicare get Part A for free, and pay a monthly premium for Part B. You must also pay deductibles and coinsurance. People with Part A and B can enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan. People with Part A or B can enroll in a Prescription Drug Plan. How do I apply? People getting Social Security or Railroad Retirement benefits will automatically be enrolled in Medicare at age 65. People getting Social Security disability payments will automatically be enrolled after 24 months of disability (with some exceptions). Other people who are eligible for Medicare must apply by calling the Social Security Administration at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY: 1-800-325-0778).

How do I use my benefits?

Once you have been approved, Medicare will send you an enrollment package and your Medicare card. You must then decide if you want to keep Part B Medical Insurance, if you want to buy Medigap supplemental insurance, which Medicare health plan you want to use, and whether you want to enroll in a Prescription Drug Plan. You must show your Medicare card whenever you go for health services. If you are denied benefits or if Medicare pays less than you think they should, you may appeal. You will get a separate drug benefit card if you join a Medicare drug plan. Medicare Health Plans You must decide how you want to get your Medicare benefits. You may choose the Original Medicare Plan, which is a federal fee-for-service plan available nationwide, or you may join a Medicare Advantage plan offered by private companies under contract with Medicare. If you keep the Original Medicare Plan, you may buy supplemental Medigap insurance to cover some of the “gaps” in your Medicare benefits. If you choose a Medicare Advantage plan, you will usually have to pay an extra monthly fee, but will also get extra benefits. Your health plan choices will vary depending on where you live. Medicare Prescription Drug Plans Medicare Prescription Drug Plans, also called Medicare Part D, cover some of the costs of prescription drugs. All people with Medicare can get Medicare drug coverage if they choose. Prescription Drug Plans are offered by private insurers approved by Medicare. Different drug plans have different costs and benefits. Plan members must pay monthly premiums, an annual deductible, coinsurance/copayments, and coverage gap costs. Medicare recipients with limited incomes and resources can get help to pay their drug plan costs.

We can Help you find the best prices on Affordable Renters Insurance!

Renters insurance is actually a form of homeowners insurance. Specifically, renter’s insurance is type 4 Homeowners Insurance. Renters insurance is one of the most affordable, yet overlooked types of insurance available.

What is a basic Renter’s Insurance Policy?

The basic renters insurance policy will cover damage to or loss of goods resulting from theft and natural disaster. This aspect of renters insurance is divided into two categories, actual cash value renters insurance and replacement cost renters insurance. Actual cash value renters insurance is a policy that covers the depreciated value of items. Replacement cost renters insurance covers items for their current market value. Because of this, replacement cost renters insurance carries premiums that are considerably higher than actual cash value renters insurance.

Whichever type of renters insurance you choose, you should read the policies very carefully. Many renters insurance polices have exclusions on certain items and renters insurance coverage limitations on expensive items, such as jewelry and electronics. To make up for this gap, renters insurance riders, or additional renters insurance coverage is usually available.

Do You Really Need Renters Insurance

Many people feel that they have no need for renters insurance, but it is likely that they are undervaluing their own possessions. Just because you are renting a property does not mean you do not need the protection of insurance! Renters insurance does not only cover the loss of belongings, renters insurance provides a liability protection.

To protect yourself, you may need renters insurance. Renters are usually liable for accidents taking place within 150 feet of the property they are renting. Having a renters insurance policy can save you from a great deal financial trouble if someone is injured. This may seem unlikely, but children are the leading cause of liability claims under renters insurance policies. Children can be unpredictable and you are responsible for their safety when they are on the property that you rent. In this way, renters insurance is an important safety net.

Competitive Renters Insurance Premiums

Renter’s insurance is usually extremely affordable and the benefits of renters insurance should not be overlooked. Providers of renters insurance offer very competitive premiums. However, researching the limitations of renters insurance plans can be tedious. We can help by making renters insurance comparisons straightforward and easy to understand.
